Ever wondered how people who smell good all day do it? They undergo rigorous activities during the day yet smell nice and fresh?
It’s no magic or rocket science. There are few things that build up to having a nice scent throughout the day. These range from the simple and regular hygienic practices we do daily to some more detailed activities that help you have a nice scent all day.
So stay with me while I share some of those tips with you.
Let’s dive right in…
How To Smell Good All Day
1. Always Stay Hydrated
Drinking lots of water can help you smell nice all day.
But how is that possible when one would sweat more as a result?
A moist skin is good for scents while a dry skin will not hold scents for long thereby allowing perfumes to fade easily.
Dehydration can make your mouth dry, thereby causing bad breath. Aside brushing your teeth, drinking water helps eliminate the bacteria that cause mouth odor.
2. Brush Your Teeth
Brushing your teeth is the primary step to take in ensuring a good oral health. The American Dental Association recommends that you brush your teeth at least twice a day with a soft-bristled brush and floss once a day to avoid the risk of oral infections.
3. Apply Deodorants
Using a deodorant will keep bad odors away and make you smell nice for long periods. While there are deodorants that have nice scents and last long, there are also those that do not last that long. In the quest for a deodorant that suits you, you may have to try out a few scents till you get one you can settle for.
4. Pay Attention To Your Diet
You’ve probably heard the popular saying that “you are what you eat”. That statement couldn’t be more true. Your diet plays a major role when it comes to how you smell. Having a good diet will help you smell good. While a diet with spices and onions may be good for your body system, they will also have an impact on your skin for up to 48 hours.
5. Get a Nice Perfume
Wearing a nice perfume is one good way to smell good for a long period. There are perfumes with different scents for different moods. Whether you are feeling playful or serious, there is a perfume for it. Go for scents that reflect your moods and personality.
Doesn’t it feel nice to go through the day without having to worry about not smelling good? A nice perfume is a good confidence booster and makes one attractive too.
6. Use a Foot Spray / Powder
Footwear have a tendency to ooze when worn a couple times. A bad odor from footwear is a turn off for many. Proper care of your shoes is really necessary. Bacteria that causes smell thrive more in moist environment, so be sure to sun-dry your footwear as often as you wear them.
If your feet tends to get sticky when wearing shoes for some hours, then a foot spray or foot powder should come to the rescue.
7. Do Justice To Your Laundry
Washing your clothes may just be all you need to having a nice scent (if you do not have bromhidrosis). Wearing same clothes over and again without washing is just not hygienic. It prevents you from smelling good all day as bacteria would have formed on the clothes from sweat.
For most folk who perspire heavily, it is only cool to wash your clothes after wearing them. When doing your laundry, opt for scented detergents as the scent will remain on the clothes even when dry. Keep your clothes fresh and clean, iron them where possible and you will in turn smell good.
8. Have a Shower
This seems obvious but I couldn’t leave it out of this. Some issues that relate to smelling nice can be avoided if the concerned individual improved his or her relationship with soap and water. You will be surprised how effective a good shower can be in helping you smell nice. Shower at least twice a day to stay fresh.
It is also important for you to know that some underlying health challenges could cause body odor thereby affecting how you smell.
Just as looking good is good business, smelling good is an icing on the cake to your outward appearance. So, whatever you do, make sure you stay fresh and clean by keeping a good hygiene as it will benefit you in many ways.
